The Grand Hotel Courmayeur is a five-star accommodation with seventy-two rooms distributed and articulated over three chalets, a restaurant and a lounge bar (located in a fourth chalet) and a wellness centre. Being located at a high-altitude, the site imposed particular attention in the planning and management of the work, made particularly difficult by the rigid temperatures that conditioned the concrete casting and the installation of the screeds. In addition, the heavy snowfalls prevented the supply of the materials and the access to some areas of the building site. To overcome this last problem, the work on the garage was carried out earlier to allow the allocation of the materials to be used for the internal work in a covered area before the snowfall.
Always in relation to the variable weather conditions, logistics were divided into stages:
1) closure of the building with regard to the roofing and the external walls including the windows with special temporary translucent panels;
2) execution of the interior finishes during the winter period by mitigating temperatures using hot air generators;
3) completion of external works during the summer months.
The roofing of the Grand Hotel Courmayeur was made in stone slabs, a typical finishing of the Aosta Valley, carried out by skilled workers located on site, to maintain a construction style, which is consistent with the landscape.
The Hotel ME Milan Il Duca was subject to extraordinary maintenance work for the renovation of the one hundred and thirty-nine rooms, with the creation of the restaurant, rooftop bar, gym and meeting rooms. The project involved the complete reconstruction of the existing spaces, the electrical and mechanical systems, all designed to meet the new standards of energy efficiency and safety. The use of fine materials - marble, panelling and high-quality wall coverings - made it possible to reach a high level that can classify it as a five-star luxury hotel. Particular attention was paid to acoustic insulation, with the use of multilayer suspended ceilings. The décor of the hall includes a spiral staircase in Seminato alla Veneziana and wooden furniture of particular workmanship. The upstairs is made up of a panoramic top floor - Radio rooftop Bar - with a large terrace overlooking the new skyline of Milan of the Porta Nuova Garibaldi area. The façades designed by the Architect Aldo Rossi were kept.
The site - started in April 2014 - was unveiled on 1st May 2015, with short deadlines for delivery to the Customer.
The Hotel Posta was subject to complete renovation works and refurbishment of the attic. The building includes a bistro on the ground floor and rooms on the upper floors. The work remained true to the original project, as it is one of the first works realised by the well known Architect Giuseppe Terragni: In particular, the marble staircase was preserved. In the basement, a reinforced concrete structure was created - designed to host warehouses, refrigerators, staff changing rooms and bathrooms - using the White Tank System method, which is characterized by injecting resin between the cast joints to make the premises completely waterproof, in order to counteract the underlying thrust of the lake. The structure was adapted to the fire regulations using intumescent plaster. On the top floor, the recovery of the attic allowed to obtain two mini-suites of approximately sixty square meters each.
The renovation works that took place at the Barchetta Excelsior Hotel consisted in the reconstruction of the façades, the replacement of doors and windows with thermal-break and high energy-efficient ones, the roof and the installation of new equipment for the heating and air-conditioning system. The existing façades have been replaced partly with ventilated ones. All these works have been done extremely quickly, during the hotel’s winter closing.
